DIY Pine Cone Topiaries

I'm always looking for ways to decorate with NO budget. I made some egg topiaries a couple of years ago for Easter HERE and I wanted to line my pathway for Christmas this year. I go "road side" shopping all the time and last year I gathered a bunch of large pine cones and just had them sitting in a basket, witch I liked so I now need to go get more.

This was SO simple and I had it done in about 10 min.
You will need
1. drill
2. large pine cones
3. bamboo skewers
4. something to tap your bamboo skewers in..pizza cutter...lol
Drill a hole in the bottom of the pine cone. My drill pit size was 3/16.
Some pieces may fall off and you can keep them for crafts. I drilled on a slight angle for better leverage.

I save old spice containers for future craft projects.
I needed something smaller than a hammer for the skewers, that's  when the pizza cutter came in handy.

Stick your pine cone on the bamboo skewer.

I got lucky a few weeks ago when the lawn guys cut down a bunch of oak trees. I had been looking for tree stumps on craigslist for a while.

I did a couple of clumping tree stumps with ribbon around them and I LOVE it!

This was all FREE! My kind of decor :-)

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a Wonderful Thanksgiving! I went to my mother's for Thanksgiving in West Palm Beach....I didn't have to do any of the cooking, but I did do the decorations :-)
Table setting for 30 of  our family & friends.
It was quite windy for Thanksgiving, so after the napkins blew off the table a few times it was time for some weight...river rocks out of the fountain worked perfectly.
As some of you may know, I LOVE bottles! I have a small stash in the garage of Patron bottles and wine bottles. I took them from work, so once again FREE decorating!
I went around the house and snipped a few fern leaves to fill the Patron bottles.

My white pitcher that I bought at the thrift store about a month ago.
I just tapped some burlap, vintage music sheets, and gold ribbon around the wine bottles and finished it off with some jute rope. Add a candle to the top and you have yourself a FREE candle holder.

I'm going to re-use the wine bottle candle holders for Christmas, all I have to do is use a different color candle.

Pilgrim salt and pepper shakers.
Everyone enjoying the FOOD!
My son, Landon and daddy.

My youngest son Tanner and my grandmother, their Great Grandmother Hatsumi.

My Aunt made the most amazing little desserts, chocolate mousse, key lime pie, pumpkin pie, and cheesecake! Will be putting this idea in my archives :-)

And after eating ALL the wonderful food my husband and I went and played with the camera a little.

He took this AMAZING shot of the dead tree in my mother's front yard.

Myself, my son's, and husband were all sick but it was a great Thanksgiving!

I am blessed with two healthy, beautiful boys and an AMAZING husband!

Along with an amazing family!

GOD is GOOD!

Renningers Antique Extravaganza

A day at Renningers Antique Extravaganza in Mt. Dora Florida. Talk about 117 acres of FUN!! I didn't want to leave. Looking back at some of my pictures I'm noticing that I missed  A LOT of stuff in the back round.
This was my first time attending anything like this.
If you don't want to feel you have left empty handed, go with at least $1,000 cash!
Chalk board on a foot board, what a great idea!

This Table would have come home with me if my house was big enough!! It was about 12 ft. long. I didn't care what the price was, I was in LOVE! I am now on the hunt for this table in a smaller version.

How beautiful are the details, color, distressing, the curves...the list goes on and on for me!!

Okay, I can't edit any more photos...way to many! Just enjoy all the fun goodies.
I don't know why I liked these, but next time a would like a few.

Iron hooks out the wazoo!

LOTS of junk that i would have LOVED to stock up on..no room:(

 Basket lights on rope.

There was a bunch of these old windows with "institution" wording on them...lol, my husband loved them! Wish I could have gotten more shots of them.

This one is for you Kathy :-)

This booth was Adorable!! "The Vintage Nest"

This was my FAVORITE booth!!! I wish could have taken this whole booth home with me:-)  Next time I'll be sure to charge my camera battery! I was there for 4 hours and the camera died an hour into our entering.

AND, this guy had the MOST beautiful reclaimed wood tables, benches, and islands. This one was $650. I wanted it so BADLY! He said for the next event he is going to try to bring down a load of reclaimed lumber with him to sell, $2.00 a ft. I am planning on buying a bunch to build my own! I just can't find any reclaimed lumber in Orlando or anywhere near me.

This picture was taken with the i-phone so my apologies on quality.

OH, and I found this little beauty too! Pic from the i-phone again. See that bright orange SOLD sticker on it? Happy for whoever's piece this was...lovely work!

A shot from hill side.
Via Renningers Mt. Dora

The best part of the day...my husband came with me! With the busy lives that we live it's hard to get the chance to go do something as just the two of us, no children.

One funny shot for you all.....count on the husband to get that shot he's been waiting for all year. Porta potty's, little did I know they have CLEAN, real restrooms in the main building!

So, If your around Mt. Dora Fl. in January or Febuary you should come check out the Antique Extravaganza!!
