Ballard Designs Inspired Whitewashed Table

I have had my eye on Ballard Designs "Ceylon" outdoor collection for some time now.  With a price tag of $479 for just the table, it's never going to happen!

This what the table looked like before....a yellowish blonde wood?
It was at least a lighter colored wood making it easier to get a nice whitewashed finish.

I sanded the whole thing down and did a light layer of watered down grey paint over the whole thing to help tone some of the "yellow" down before layering the white dry brush on.

This is my third whitewashed piece and I have tried a different technique each time!

It's just paint and most of the time if I didn't like what I was seeing I could just wipe it off.

Now for the pretty shots!

If you are in the Orlando area, she is for sale! $125

Pottery Barn Inspired Wall Art

A few weeks ago the family and I went on a mini vacation to Sarasota. While coasting the waves, the boys found several amazing sea shells!

I have had this old VHS wooden crate set aside for a DIY project for some time now.

This is what the "before" looked like.

All the inner shelves were pulled out, leaving the little lines in the side walls. I'm okay with them though....kind of gives it character:)

I picked the best shells and played around with the best layout for a bit.

Love the little stamp on the side of the crate.

Originally I didn't have the little wooden plaque with the Lido Key coordinates. I always pull out inspiration when re-doing a room and this piece is for our half bath makeover that will be up on the blog later.

I used my Martha Stewart paint kit to create this linen look on the back wall of the crate and I used E-6000 to glue the shells on after everything was dry.

Hope I have inspired you to go make something with those "laying around" memories!!
