Mini Stick Ladder

You know when you find something really cute and buy it, then you start seeing different styles of the same thing that are really cute too and before you know it you have a pile of really cute dish towels!! haha

These dish towels are to pretty to use so, I needed a way to display them! I was going to get wood and build a mini ladder to hold them. When while doing yard work one day I had an idea!

Free and simple! It took me 10 min. to put this little bad boy together and I've used him for so many different décor set ups already!

Here are a few!!

This mini, mini one I built to take photos for you all to do this tutorial!
It's about 10" high! The other one is more like 2'.

I had some straight sticks and just eye balled how big I wanted the ladder. Cut two legs then  three rails. The branches are freshly cut so they are still alive. I think if these were dried up, when you go to screw it together it might just crack and split.

Little tip: if you lay the ladder down on a table and screw off the side of it you are able to do this with no help! lol The drill hangs right off the side making it easy to screw into the leg & rails! You are able to hold those two pieces together with your other hand!

This is what it looks like complete!

What do you think? Ready to go make one for yourself?

Night Stand Makeover

This table was the bottom half of an armoire that wasn't going to be used anymore. The owner needed a large night stand to fit with the scale of the large bed. I added 2"x6" planks to the top to cover the large hole and refinished it in Fusion Mineral Paint Champlain. The top is stained in Dark Roast by Minwax.

It turned out perfectly!

DIY Farmhouse Wall Decor

I'm in the process of giving our half bath a mini makeover. It's going to have a farmhouse feel to it since it's in the hallway where I did the faux shiplap. Hobby Lobby has 50% off home décor right now and these wire baskets are only $2.50! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but, I needed them!

The bathroom needs something small and simple to hang on the wall & these are perfect as well décor.

I added a glass jar with some jute twin. Target one spot has a 5 pack of spice jars for $3. I had several on hand.
Add some flowers to the jars and your done.

I'll share a little secret how I hang light items on the wall. Thumbtacks!! I hang just about EVERYTHING with them!

Dresser Refinished with Fusion Mineral Paint

I love trying new paint products. There are so many different brands and they just seem to get better and better as time goes on. When I started painting furniture 6-7 years ago, you had sand and prime furniture. Although I still have to do that with some pieces, paint has come a long ways in the last 7 years. I decided to go with Fusion Mineral Paint for this bedroom set. I've been following their Instagram page and a few other furniture experts that use the paint and was loving what I was seeing!!

You don't need to sand or prime and it's self sealing so, you don't need to wax or seal it. That being said, on this set I'm refinishing it has several knots in the wood. I've learned my lesson with knots and went ahead and primed this dresser to play it safe with bleeding in the future. I did clean the whole dresser first with TSP and gave it a light sand by hand to rough up the surface a little.

This color is Champlain and it is the perfect creamy white.

The packaging just makes you want to paint the day away!!! "Paint is good for the soul" does it get any better than that? Ummm, NO!
This paint was NOT a disappointment! So smooth and easy to use.

I went with light distressing on the edges.
